Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV True-Streak Blue 2mm Rota 77mm
Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV True-Streak Blue 2mm Rota 77mm | Add blue streak effects to point lights
The True-Streak Blue is a color filter for adding blue streaks to bright light sources in the frame. It suits filmmakers and photographers who want to shape a particular flare effect in-camera, rather than add it later in editing. The 2mm Rota version is especially relevant when you want to adjust the streak’s direction as you compose: the Rota designation indicates a rotating version, so you can position the effect to suit the shot. It’s a considered creative tool for scenes with distinct points of light, such as headlights, practical lamps or stage lighting. Keep in mind that the effect depends on having suitable light sources in the composition; this isn’t a general-purpose color correction filter. The 77mm size makes it a filter to consider for setups built around that filter size.
Specialist Note
2mm is the key designation here: it points to a fine streak character, which can add a clean blue line from a bright point of light without turning the whole frame into a color effect. The Rota version lets you turn that line to suit your composition; for a night scene, try a headlight or a small lamp in frame and rotate the filter until the streak follows the direction you want. It’ll suit filmmakers and photographers shaping deliberate flare, especially for night exteriors or stage lights. The 77mm size is useful when your setup takes that filter size. Just remember, you need a bright source in the frame for the effect to show.
