Sigma Filter 58mm WR Protector + UV PUV-21
Sigma Filter 58mm WR Protector + UV PUV-21 | A protective layer for your lens front
A lens’s front element is easy to touch while you’re changing gear, cleaning up after a dusty day or simply handling your camera on the go. The Sigma Filter 58mm WR Protector + UV PUV-21 gives you a filter intended for front-of-lens protection, with a UV designation included in its name. It suits photographers who want a protective filter on a lens that takes a 58mm filter, especially when they’d rather wipe a filter surface than handle the lens’s front element directly. Fit it before heading out, and keep your lens cap handy when the camera is packed away. This is a straightforward option if protection is your main reason for adding a filter. The product name also identifies it as a UV filter, though the information available here doesn’t support a promise about a particular change to image results. It’s a simple accessory with a clear job: add a filter in front of a lens with the matching size.
Specialist Note
“Is this Sigma filter mainly for protecting the lens? Yes—that’s the clearest reason to choose it. The 58mm size tells you which filter thread it’s made for, so match that number on your lens rather than judging by the camera body. The ‘Protector + UV’ designation gives you the other part of the picture: protection is central, and UV is part of the filter’s stated type. I’d consider it for everyday carrying or outdoor photography, fitting it before you set off and cleaning the filter surface when it needs attention. One sensible limit: I wouldn’t rely on a filter to protect the whole lens from a knock, so keep using a cap when you put the camera away.”
