Sony ALC-R1EM Achterlens Cap
Sony ALC-R1EM Achterlens Cap | Keep a detached lens covered
The Sony ALC-R1EM is a rear lens cap: it covers the back of a lens when the lens is off the camera. That specific job makes it handy for photographers who swap lenses and need somewhere to put the one they’ve removed, as well as anyone storing a lens separately. Fit the cap over the rear of the lens before putting it away, and that exposed end is covered while the lens is not in use. It’s a small accessory, but an easy one to overlook until a lens is sitting in a bag without its cap. The ALC-R1EM is the model name to look for when you need this Sony rear-cap type. It doesn’t replace a cap for the front of a lens or a cap for the camera body; its role is to cover the rear of the lens.
Specialist Note
The Sony ALC-R1EM is best at covering the rear of a lens once it’s off the camera. I’d point it out to anyone who changes lenses and wants to put the removed one straight into a bag, or who keeps lenses stored separately between outings. Its identity as a rear lens cap matters here: it goes on the lens, not the camera body, so keep that distinction in mind when replacing a missing cap. The Sony name and ALC-R1EM model give you a clear product to ask for. My practical advice is simple: fit it before storing the detached lens, so the rear stays covered until you’re ready to use it again.
