Sony CPL Filter w/ Een Diameter Van 55mm
Sony CPL Filter 55mm | Reduce reflections and adjust sky contrast
Reflections on water, glass and glossy surfaces can distract from your subject, while a bright sky may look flatter than it did to your eye. The Sony CPL Filter is a circular polarizing filter with a 55 mm diameter, for a lens with a matching filter size. Rotate it to adjust how much reflected light is suppressed and how strongly blue skies separate from clouds. That makes it useful for landscapes, window scenes and photographs beside water, where you want to control reflections while composing. The effect depends on the light and your shooting angle, so judge it through the viewfinder rather than expecting a fixed look. This filter suits photographers who want to make that adjustment as they shoot, instead of leaving the decision entirely to editing later.
Specialist Note
“Will this Sony CPL fit my lens?” It fits a lens with a 55 mm filter thread, so match that size on the lens rather than relying on the camera brand. As a CPL, it lets you turn the filter to tune down reflections—handy when photographing a pond or shooting through a shop window. Rotate it while watching the scene, and stop when the reflection is reduced but the surface still looks natural. For a landscape, adjust it while framing blue sky to control the contrast with clouds. The effect changes with your position relative to the light, and the filter reduces the light reaching the camera, so keep an eye on shutter speed in dim conditions. It’s most useful in brighter scenes where you want deliberate control over glare.
