Stealth Gear Raincover 100

Stealth Gear Raincover 100 | Rain protection for long telephoto lenses

Keep rain and dirt off a long lens while you’re working outdoors with the Stealth Gear Raincover 100. It fits lenses with a maximum circumference of about 60 cm, including the listed 100–400mm and 150–600mm zooms. That size also accommodates a lens hood, provided its widest point stays within the same limit. Use it to cover a telephoto during wildlife photography in wet woodland, keep a long zoom protected at a rainy sports event, or shield a hooded lens from grime as you move between locations. The cover attaches to a camera or lens in a few seconds, so you can get your equipment protected promptly when the weather turns. Its Forest Green colour is a restrained choice for outdoor use. For a close fit around the lens, a drawcord gathers the opening; the fabric and weather ratings are useful details to consider for regular work outside.

Why it is useful

• Polyester microsuede fabric: The cover is made from 100% polyester microsuede, the same fabric used for Stealth Gear clothing. That gives you a clear idea of its material and makes it a more substantial cover than a simple loose wrap.
• Teflon treatment: A DuPont Teflon treatment is intended to repel water, dirt and stains. That matters when the cover is exposed to wet surroundings or brushes against muddy ground and vegetation.
• Waterproof rating of 8,033 mm: This stated rating gives a specific measure of the cover’s water resistance. It’s a useful point of comparison if you’re choosing protection for shooting in persistent rain.
• Breathability of 5,826 g/m²/24 hours: The stated breathability rating describes how much moisture vapour can pass through the fabric over time. It’s a relevant detail when the cover stays on during an extended outdoor session.
• Drawcord closure: Pull the cord to gather the opening around the lens. The adjustable closure provides a closer fit than leaving the opening loose around the barrel.
• Forest Green finish: The cover comes in Forest Green, a subdued colour for use outside. It’s a simple detail, but one worth knowing if you prefer your camera accessories to blend into an outdoor setup.
