That reduction helps when bright daylight would otherwise push exposure toward a faster shutter or a narrower aperture than you want. Telesin makes this filter for the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, so it suits Pocket 3 owners who film outdoors and want more control over motion rendering in sunshine, rather than a filter for general protection. For video, it can help you hold a deliberate shutter setting while keeping exposure down. The trade-off is simple: this much light reduction is intended for strong light and can leave too little for indoor scenes or late-evening filming. If those are your main shooting conditions, a lighter ND level would be more practical.

Specialist Note

At noon on a bright square, the Pocket 3 is pointed toward a moving cyclist; this is when a dense filter earns its place. For an outdoor clip at 24 fps, I’d start around 1/50 s and use the ND256 to keep the shutter from racing in the sun, then check exposure as the subject moves between sun and shade. It’s made for the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, so this advice is specific to that setup. I’d recommend it to Pocket 3 owners who film in hard daylight and care about natural-looking motion. Its honest limit is the density: as light fades, take it off rather than pushing ISO unnecessarily.
