Tiffen 107CSRPOL 107C SR Linear Polarizer
Tiffen 107CSRPOL 107C SR Linear Polarizer | Reduce Reflections, Shape Colour
The defining choice is linear polarization: this filter is made to control reflected light, helping reduce glare and bring out colour in scenes where reflections wash it away. The Tiffen 107CSRPOL 107C SR Linear Polarizer is for photographers who want to manage that effect while composing, rather than relying on changes in post-processing. It’s particularly useful around water, glass and foliage, where reflections can obscure detail, and in landscapes where you want to adjust the appearance of the sky. The effect depends on the angle of the light, so small adjustments to the filter’s position can make a visible difference. This is a specialist filter, not a general-purpose protective filter; its value is in giving you control over polarized reflections and their effect on the image.
Specialist Note
Photographers working with reflective water, shop windows or bright leaves are the people I’d point towards this Tiffen. Its linear-polarizer design lets you adjust how much reflected light reaches the image; for water, make small changes in the filter’s position as you frame until more of the surface detail comes through. The 107C SR designation is part of this model’s name, so use the full designation when identifying or searching for the filter. One honest point: a polarizer’s effect depends on the light’s angle, so it won’t remove every reflection in every composition. For controlled work with reflections, though, that adjustment is exactly the appeal.
