Tiffen 412CLRP 4 1/2 Clear Premium Filter
Tiffen 412CLRP 4 1/2 Clear Premium Filter | Clear UV filtering
Without a UV filter in place, you’re shooting without that filter’s UV role. The Tiffen 412CLRP is a clear UV filter in a 4 1/2 format, for photographers whose lens setup takes this size and who want a filter without a deliberate colour or density effect. It suits a straightforward working kit: keep it in place for daylight photography, or use it when you want UV filtration without adding a tinted look to the scene. The name gives you the key points to shop by: Tiffen, model 412CLRP, clear finish and 4 1/2 format. This is a specific-size filter, so it’s for setups built around that format rather than a universal add-on. Its purpose is simple and focused; it isn’t a filter for changing exposure or creating a colour effect.
Specialist Note
For a lens setup that takes a 4 1/2 filter, I’d consider this when you want UV filtration to stay visually unobtrusive. The clear designation matters in everyday daylight work: it doesn’t introduce a deliberate colour or density effect, so it keeps the filter’s job focused on UV filtering. That makes sense for outdoor scenes where you want the straightforward look of the lens rather than a creative filter effect. It also suits photographers who keep a dedicated filter in a particular 4 1/2 setup. One limitation to bear in mind: this isn’t the one to reach for when you need to reduce light for a longer exposure; choose a filter designed for that instead.
