Tiffen 44WPM12 4x4 Warm Pro Mist 1/2 Filter
Tiffen 44WPM12 4x4 Warm Pro Mist 1/2 Filter | Warm, softened highlights
Bright points of light take on a softer glow, while the overall image gets a gentle warm cast. The Tiffen Warm Pro Mist 1/2 is a creative filter for filmmakers and photographers who want that character in-camera, rather than adding it later in editing. Its Pro Mist effect softens the rendering of highlights and takes some bite out of contrast; the warm element shifts the image towards a warmer look. The 1/2 strength gives the effect a clear presence, so it suits scenes where you want the filter to be part of the look, not an invisible correction. Try it with practical lights in a night scene, or with backlit portraits where you want bright areas to bloom softly. This is a creative choice rather than a neutral protective filter: if you want crisp, untouched highlights, a mist effect may be more noticeable than you’d like.
Specialist Note
4×4 tells you this is a square filter format, so plan around a 4×4 filter setup rather than a lens-thread size. The 1/2 strength is the part I’d pay attention to creatively: it gives the Pro Mist look a definite presence, which can work beautifully with small lights in a darker scene or with a backlit face. For a softer portrait look, let the light sit near the edge of the frame; for a more obvious glow, include bright practicals in the composition. The warm treatment is part of the look, too. It won’t suit every scene, especially if you’re aiming for cool, clean highlights.
