TTArtisan 50mm f/1.2 MFT (Pana/Olympus) | FourThirds Black
TTArtisan 50mm f/1.2 MFT (Pana/Olympus) | FourThirds Black | Portrait reach with a bright f/1.2 aperture
Finding a lens that gives portraits some reach without giving up a bright aperture can be a challenge. This manual-focus 50mm prime pairs an f/1.2 maximum aperture with a Micro Four Thirds mount, giving you a focused, close-framed view that suits portraits especially well. On a Micro Four Thirds camera, its field of view is equivalent to 100mm on full frame, so you can make your subject the focus of the frame without getting right up close. That same tighter framing can help pick out details while travelling or on the street, though it’s less suited to scenes where you want a wide view. With manual focus, you set the point of focus yourself, which suits a measured approach to composing. If you use a compatible Panasonic or Olympus Micro Four Thirds camera and want a bright prime for portraits, travel details or carefully framed street scenes, this TTArtisan offers a distinctive focal length to work with.
Specialist Note
Manual focus takes a little more attention than simply pressing the shutter, so this lens suits someone happy to focus deliberately. The reason I’d consider it is the combination of 50mm and f/1.2 on Micro Four Thirds: the 100mm-equivalent framing is flattering for portraits, while f/1.2 gives you room to separate your subject from the background. For a portrait, open the aperture to f/1.2 and focus carefully on the face; for travel, use the longer view to isolate a sign or small detail from its surroundings. I’d choose it for considered framing, rather than quick moments where you need autofocus.
