TTArtisan APS-C AF35mm f/1.8 MkII Sony E-Mount
TTArtisan APS-C AF35mm f/1.8 MkII Sony E-Mount | A bright prime for street and travel
On a city walk, the light can shift from a sunlit street to a shaded café in a few steps. The TTArtisan AF35mm f/1.8 MkII is a standard prime lens for Sony E-mount APS-C cameras, with autofocus for those moments when you want to concentrate on framing rather than turning a focus ring. Its 35mm focal length gives a natural, fairly versatile view for street scenes and travel details, while the maximum f/1.8 aperture gives you room to work in dimmer light and to separate a subject from its background. On a Sony APS-C body, 35mm frames like roughly 52.5mm on full frame, so it’s more suited to individual scenes and details than sweeping interiors or broad landscapes. If that kind of framing matches how you like to shoot, this is a straightforward prime to keep on your camera for a day out.
Specialist Note
That 35mm focal length becomes a fairly tight, 52.5mm-equivalent view on a Sony APS-C body, which changes how you work on a busy pavement: you’ll frame a person or a small slice of the scene rather than trying to fit in the whole street. I’d use it for a travel detail or an everyday portrait, stepping back a little when the frame feels cramped. The f/1.8 maximum aperture is handy as daylight fades; for a moving street subject, try around 1/250 sec and open the lens to f/1.8 if the light calls for it. It suits someone who prefers a considered, subject-led view. Its narrower framing can be limiting in tight rooms, so a wider lens may suit those scenes better.
