Urth 72mm CPL Lens Filter Pro
Urth 72mm CPL Lens Filter Pro | Control reflections and glare
The defining choice is the circular polarising design: it lets you adjust how much reflected light reaches your image. That’s useful when glare from water, glass or shiny leaves distracts from the subject, and when you want more contrast in a blue sky. The 72mm size identifies the lens filter thread it’s intended to fit, so it suits photographers whose lenses have a matching 72mm thread. To vary the effect, rotate the filter while looking at the scene and stop when reflections are reduced to the degree you want. It’s a considered tool for landscapes, travel details and scenes behind glass, where reflections can otherwise compete with what you’re trying to photograph. The effect depends on the light and your angle to the subject, so it won’t remove every reflection in every situation. A CPL is best when you want direct control over glare, rather than a fixed look that applies to every frame.
Specialist Note
At the canal in late afternoon, sunlight skips across the water and pulls attention away from the buildings beyond. This is where a CPL earns its place: rotate it as you watch the reflection, and you can reduce the glare until more of the scene shows through. The 72mm size is the detail to match to your lens’s filter thread; once it fits, the circular polarising effect gives you a practical way to shape reflections rather than simply accept them. I’d recommend it to someone who photographs water, shop windows or open skies and likes to make that adjustment by eye. One honest point: polarising filters reduce light, so keep an eye on your exposure in dim conditions.
