Urth 77mm Ethereal ¼ White Mist Filter Plus+
Urth 77mm Ethereal ¼ White Mist Filter Plus+ | A softer, mist-like look
Bright streetlights or a strong highlight can look hard and crisp in a photo when you’d rather have a gentler, more atmospheric feel. The Urth 77mm Ethereal ¼ White Mist Filter Plus+ is made for adding that soft, mist-like character in camera, rather than relying on an effect later in editing. Its ¼ strength gives you a defined level of the White Mist effect, suited to a restrained change in the image rather than the strongest possible diffusion. It’s a creative filter for photographers who want to shape the way highlights and light sources appear, especially in portraits, evening scenes and other images where atmosphere matters. The 77mm size is the key fit detail: choose it for a lens with a matching filter diameter. This isn’t a UV filter in the usual protective sense; its purpose is to alter the look of the image. If you want your photographs to retain a clear, natural rendering, this effect may not suit every scene.
Specialist Note
Hard-looking highlights can make a portrait or night scene feel more clinical than you intended; this filter is for easing that impression. I’d consider it when you want points of light to take on a gentler, mist-like quality without choosing a stronger effect: the ¼ strength is the detail to keep in mind. For portraits, try placing a bright light in the scene or just outside the frame and see how it changes the mood. For evening street photography, let a few lamps sit against darker surroundings. The 77mm size means it’s intended for a lens with a 77mm filter diameter, so it suits photographers building a consistent look around that lens size. It’s a creative effect, not a neutral everyday filter.
