Urth 77mm Magnetic Infra-Red (R72) Filter Plus+

Urth 77mm Magnetic Infra-Red (R72) Filter Plus+ | Explore intentional infrared photography

For photographs with an infrared look, the Urth 77mm Magnetic Infra-Red (R72) Filter Plus+ is a specialist filter for photographers who want to explore that distinct approach to image-making. Its R72 designation identifies the infrared filter type, while the 77mm size tells you which lens front it’s made to fit: you’ll need a lens with a matching 77mm filter thread. The magnetic attachment makes this a practical option if you want to put the filter on or take it off as you move between ordinary and infrared-focused shooting. It’s best suited to deliberate experiments and projects where infrared is the point, rather than as an everyday filter you leave in place. If you’re building a setup around a compatible lens, this gives you a specific way to pursue infrared photographs without guessing from a general-purpose filter name.

Choosing it for your setup

Start with the front of your lens: the 77mm measurement is the key fit detail. Then consider how often you’ll switch between this filter and your usual setup. The magnetic design is relevant if you expect to change filters during a session; the R72 designation makes clear that this is for an infrared-focused approach, not a general-purpose filter.
