Urth 77mm Variable ND2 32 + CPL Filter Pro
Urth 77mm Variable ND2 32 + CPL Filter Pro | Control light and reflections
Bright light can leave you choosing between a fast shutter and the aperture you actually want. The Urth 77mm Variable ND2 32 + CPL Filter Pro combines a variable neutral density range with a CPL, giving you two ways to manage light and reflections with one filter. The ND range reduces the light reaching the camera, which can help you use a slower shutter for moving water or keep a wider aperture in bright conditions. The CPL can reduce reflections from surfaces such as water and glass, and its effect on the sky changes with your shooting angle. It’s suited to landscape photographers and video makers who want more control in daylight, especially around reflective scenes. The 77mm size is for lenses with a matching 77mm filter thread. For a particular look, you’ll still need to adjust exposure to suit the available light; the filter doesn’t set your shutter speed or aperture for you.
Specialist Note
For a sunlit waterfall, I’d start at ND2 and move toward ND32 as I lengthen the exposure to soften the moving water. That variable range gives you room to respond as the light changes, rather than committing to one ND strength. The 77mm size matters when you’re matching it to a lens: it’s intended for a lens with a 77mm filter thread, so check that measurement on the lens itself. I’d also use the CPL effect to tame surface glare on water or glass. It suits landscape and video work in bright conditions; one honest point is that the polarising effect depends on your angle to the subject, so it won’t be equally strong from every viewpoint.
