VAXIS VFX 114mm Diopter +2
VAXIS VFX 114mm Diopter +2 | Bring close-up details into focus
The +2 diopter strength is the defining optical choice: it adds close-focusing power for work where a subject’s fine detail matters. The VAXIS VFX is a close-up diopter filter for photographers and filmmakers who want to focus nearer than their lens normally allows, without relying on a description of the effect as polarising. Its practical strength is detail work—think a small object, a flower, or a textured surface filling more of the frame. It suits a setup that can take a 114mm filter, so it’s important to match that size to your holder before planning a shot. A diopter changes the close-focus range rather than adding magnification by itself, and the result depends on the lens and framing you use with it. If your work often moves from wider views to near details, this gives you a dedicated optical way to make that shift.
Specialist Note
At a flower stall in the early morning, dew on a petal is the detail that draws your eye. This is the kind of close-up subject a +2 diopter is meant to help bring within focus range; work in gradually and adjust focus until the detail is sharp. The 114mm size matters before you set out: match it to the filter holder in your setup, rather than assuming it will fit. I’d point this toward someone making deliberate detail shots of small subjects, especially when getting physically closer isn’t practical. One honest limit: the diopter’s effect depends on the lens it’s used with, so it won’t give every setup the same framing or working distance.
